He isn’t your usual know-it-all pirate, he’s really sweet. I thought Bastian was so nice and charming.
Bastian and Vataea were my favorites in All the Stars and Teeth. Now it felt like if you missed one sentence, you wouldn’t know that character had died (my experience). I wish the author would’ve taken her time detailing these deaths and explaining the feelings of the characters afterward. Some character deaths were a bit disappointing. I hope we get to see more of her in the next book. There is also a background character that is plus-sized. I loved the thought of a pirate princess of color, this is something that not a lot of YA fantasy novels have. The characters in All the Stars and Teeth were enjoyable and pretty diverse. I knew there were going to be at least some (and there were) and they did not disappoint. I also noticed that I was looking for plot twists. I did find myself wanting to know what would happen, which is always a good thing. The plot is fast-paced and well-brought but nothing too original. This debut has an epic adventure that the characters embark upon. The plot of All the Stars and Teeth is a fun one but quite predictable. This cover looks very simple at first glance but when you focus and go over everything you see the beautiful details. You guys know I like to talk about covers and look at this one.
